I associate violets with March weather because, in yesteryear, Ira would order them from the florist for my birthday. The patch of violets that I can see outside the patio doors as I have breakfast, this year have advanced their flowering, perhaps because of the multiple seasons per day we've been experiencing. They bloom profusely in spite of my neglect and the bird, squirrel and cat traffic through that area.
